Thanks for the response. A question to counter all of your questions. What role to parents play in this? It's true that the church is supposed to be the village to help rear a child but it is also true that church should be an enhancement for the activities taking place in the home.

If someway we met all the needs inferred in your questions, would more of them stay or is Satan's pull and lure with the temptations of the world too strong for that age group?

Umm good question bro! Although I am not 100% sure but my guess is it’s not relevant to them. Nor are we real with them and youth like authenticity. As leaders and church people we can come across judgmental and we have not created an atmosphere for them were they are comfortable asking questions and such. Also I sometimes feel that we tell them what not to do but we never teach them how to deal with the pressures, questions and uncertainty of where they are currently and where they are going. I also feel like the church is not doing a good job in practical teaching. Where are our youth learning about values, basic fundamental life skills from money management, conflict resolution, and communication? Where are we teaching our youth how to handle disappointment, peer pressure, and relationships? Where are our youth being taught about character attributes and positive self esteem? We don’t give a biblical perspective on some of these issues and they are left to follow the “worlds” view on these matters. More than that adults (us) need to be modeling what Christianity really is, it should be a lifestyle by example not just a church thing! Ok im off my soap box! ttyl! Steph
